In 2006 I wrote a short article about Prahlad Jani, an Indian yogi who claims he can live without eating or even drinking. The news at that time were driven by another alleged “breatharian”, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, then a 16 year old boy, who was meditating for six months at that time.

Sarah McLachlan was born on January 28, 1968, and adopted in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a child, she took voice lessons, along with studies in classical piano and guitar. When she was 17 years old and still a student at Queen Elizabeth High School, she fronted a short-lived rock band called The October Game. One of the band's songs, "Grind", credited as a group composition, can be found on the independent Flamingo Records release Out of the Fog and the CD Out of the Fog Too. It has yet to be released elsewhere. Her high school yearbook predicted that she was "destined to become a famous rock star."
Following The October Game's first concert at Dalhousie University opening for Moev, McLachlan was offered a recording contract with Vancouver-based independent record label Nettwerk by Moev's Mark Jowett. McLachlan's parents insisted she finish high school and complete one year of studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design before moving to Vancouver and embarking on a new life as a recording artist, and McLachlan finally signed to Nettwerk two years later before having written a single song.
In 1994 McLachlan became the target of a lawsuit, when she was sued by Uwe Vandrei, an obsessed fan from Ottawa, who alleged that his letters to her had been the basis of the single "Possession". The lawsuit was also challenging for the Canadian legal system—Vandrei was a self-admitted stalker whose self-acknowledged goal in filing the lawsuit was to be near McLachlan physically. Consequently, special precautions were planned to ensure
McLachlan's safety if at any time she had to be in the same location as Vandrei. The lawsuit never came to trial, however, as Vandrei was found dead in an apparent suicide before the trial began. This topic was explored at length in Canadian author Judith Fitzgerald's book, Building A Mystery: The Story of Sarah McLachlan & Lilith Fair.
In 1997, Sarah McLachlan married her drummer, Ashwin Sood, in Jamaica. McLachlan lost her mother to cancer in December 2001, while McLachlan herself was pregnant. McLachlan gave birth to a daughter, whom she named India Ann Sushil Sood, on April 6, 2002, in Vancouver. By this time, McLachlan had already completed three-quarters of the production on her next record, Afterglow. On June 22, 2007, she gave birth to her second daughter, Taja Summer Sood, in Vancouver. McLachlan announced her separation from Ashwin Sood in September 2008.

Born in New Zealand, I have the dubious honour of being the first independent artist to achieve play-listing on New Zealand national radio with an original track. I moved to the UK in 2000 to pursue my music following very positive reviews in Sound on Sound and The Mix....however life took over.
In 2009 I finally returned to the studio, recording my second album, BlindSight, with Swedish producer, Milton. The story of how we met involves me falling down the stairs outside his bar the night of his 30th Birthday.....his first image of me was bruised and bleeding with shredded stockings! I like to make an unforgettable entrance...
I started writing when I was 13, after my original present of a pony was exchanged for a guitar following incompatibility issues (Psych 101, the reason for my fear of falling!) Writing has always been cathartic for me, my music the best way to express whatever it is Life is taking me through at the time.
While I play both guitar and piano, I am really more of a 'functional guitarist'. Fortunately I'm being joined by some very talented musicians in the creation of BlindSight, which is scheduled for release in March 2010.

Julie and Andrew met each other in October, 2006 in the driveway of
where they both lived, in the musically thriving city of Somerville,
Massachusetts. Without knowing what would become, they hit it off right
away. They had the same musical tastes and shared their favorite bands
with each other. Not long after that, they realized they were a couple
and they dreamt of starting a band together. They started hanging out
in that very driveway with a guitar and sang their favorite songs,
sometimes creating their own. This was when they discovered Julie's
born talent for music.
On August 18th, 2007, they got married and moved to Austin, Texas.
While Andrew was working and making just enough for the both of them,
Julie stayed home and began officially writing songs. She would come up
with a melody in her head, figure it out on the piano or guitar, then
add lyrics to it. Andrew would come home to her new song ideas and help
find the chords on the guitar. They together would arrange the whole
song before recording anything.
Before they began recording, they knew that they didn't want to use
the ear-candy features of the computer. They knew they wanted all the
main tracks to be performed without "punching-in" to fix mistakes. They
knew they wanted all the instruments to be acoustic. And, they knew
they wanted real drums, so they bought a cheap, used drumset for $250.
In March 2008, they finally had two songs recorded and put them up
on the internet for their friends and family to hear. The outcome was,
however, not what they expected. People around the globe discovered the
new songs and used them for videos, podcasts, or just simply their
What started out as a fun thing for this couple to do, has turned
into a serious musical endeavor, and they are still cranking out new
tunes every month.
To date, they now have two core band members; Ryan Duffie from
Boston on guitar and K.C. Hawes-Domingue (formerly of the Austin band,
The Push Pins) on Piano/Keyboards. Both agreed to fly to Boston to do
their first ever gig in October 2009. They see a European tour in the
The word Triplexity
is a portmanteau of triplex and complexity. Triplexity
is a virtual band consisting of 3 members who have never met each other
face to face, all collaborations came to live thru the Internet. It
would be difficult to define Triplexity's musical style inasmuch it's
extremely varied and versatile, there are no two tracks sounding alike.
One time it may be jazzy, another time harsh and electronic, sometimes
ethnic and organic and sometimes abstract and ambient. There are some
qualities though that always persist in Triplexity's music : uniqueness,
complexity, intelligence and threefold talent of the trio members.
Every member has different musical background, together they blend their
knowledge and inspiration and give life to the magnificent music that
can be heard bellow.
