Sponsor Story

Henry and Lisa are local business owners.  They own the serene, green, auto repair facility, Waterstar Motors.  They are also very involved in their community.  When James showed them how supporting local musicians and talent, on Selfport, could double as a form of advertisement, it was a no brainer.

The cost per sponsorship was so affordable, it was way less than their other promotional projects.  And it was very personal.  Since they were sponsoring individual people, or bands, it was very easy to start with a test budget, then scale up when it proved to work.

They were pleasantly surprised when their first dozen sponsorships led quickly to new customers, even though Selfport was still a very small site.  The reason for this (it quickly became clear) is that the people they sponsored, personally recruited local family and friends, to help their entries win in contests.

This way, not only is Waterstar supporting local people and the arts, and improving the economy, but they get a highly customizable web presence to boot.  Their Selfport profile includes a convenient account, and shop.  So people who earn and win on Selfport can pay for car repairs right through their profile.

In fact, some of their business comes in just because people on Selfport look for businesses where they can spend their IMUs, without converting them in to dollars.  And Water Star Motors can recycle their Selfport IMUs as more sponsorships, leading to more business.
